Video: How to play Tempest 2000 on the Atari Jaguar

I don't claim to be an expert T2K player; I'm an intermediate at best. This video is mainly for beginners. This was played on the MiSTer FPGA Atari Jaguar core work-in-progress from March 2026. It works fantastically on a dual-RAM system. Works really well on a single-RAM MiSTer as well. The dual-RAM build I have is a MiSTer Pi from Retro Remake.  Enjoy!

Sorry for the audio stutter in a few parts... mainly when warping out of a level.  My laptop needs more CPU power as I'm using an iGPU rather than a discrete card.

In the past couple of weeks there has been a lot of work done on the Atari Jaguar work-in-progress core for the MiSTer FPGA.  Timing was fine tuned, the CD streaming buffer / cache was enlarged for smooth playback, the Virtual Light Machine (VLM) was greatly improved, and support for GameDrive/Homebrew was added.  I made a video that contrasts the previous core build with one from yesterday.   Much thanks to MiSTer FPGA developers Kitrinx and GrayRogue. Enjoy!

On Thursday, July 10th 2025, a new build of the Atari Jaguar WIP core was released by developer GreyRogue.  It is available on the MiSTer FPGA Discord and is pinned in the Atari Jaguar channel.  It is another step in improving JagCD support. CD game loading and start-up speed is greatly improved.  Jeff Minter's Virtual Light Machine (VLM)  functionality is top-notch now although it still uses the load-the-whole-thing-to-RAM method for media files rather than the new stream-on-demand method used for game CDs.  Enjoy my demonstration video!  Big thanks to GreyRogue for all of his fine work.
